Our server is a headless UMax J700/180 upgraded to a G3/500 PowerPC with 256 meg of RAM and a trio of fast hard drives (soon to be upgraded to an 18-gig Cheetah, 15,000 RPM). To make it headless (no monitor necessary) we have a Liberty Mac-to-PC adapter attached. To ensure that we stay up and running despite occasional crashes, power outages, or other service-interrupting circumstances, we have a Powerkey Pro 200 that works amazingly reliably to provide crash detection, surge suppression, and scheduled timing of backup, logging, and restarting events. Our downtime per month is, shall we say, zilch. We're colocated with Globaldialog Internet, connected via Ethernet to a T1 to the world. Zoom. Mia.net provides our DNS and Registrar services.
